Expormim in Barcelona
Expormim started out making wicker baskets and still bends rattan by hand. The Design Museum of Barcelona holds seven of its pieces.
A hanging chair from the 1970s
MUT Design recreated a rattan model that Expormim made in the 1970s. For outdoor use the chair comes in aluminium. It is one of the factory’s seven pieces in the Design Museum of Barcelona.

Expormim has made furniture in Moixent, in the province of Valencia, since 1960. Today it makes indoor and outdoor furniture in rattan, aluminium, teak and rope. The third generation of the founder’s family runs it.

Rattan
Rattan is bent and woven by hand, a craft of La Costera, the district where the factory stands. In 2013 it renovated its rattan workshop.
