Quasar in Barcelona
Quasar builds a light from two parts: thin metal rods and points of light. The result is a transparent volume with no glass or fabric shade. Each Cosmos is assembled by hand, and no two are alike.
Quasar is a family factory in Giessen, the Netherlands: office and workshop share one address, and every light is made there. Founder Teun van Gammeren showed the brand at Euroluce in Milan in 1992. His sons Arjens and John run the factory now.
One shape, with LEDs or with bulbs
The Belgian Jan Pauwels designed most of the collection; he has worked with Quasar since 1998. His models come in pairs: Cosmos on LED boards, Universe on E10 bulbs. Sirio and Curled work the same way. The boards carry LEDs on both sides: two thirds of the light goes down, one third up.
