Martinelli Luce has made lamps in Lucca since the 1950s. Elio Martinelli founded the company in the basement of a historic house in the city centre; in the 1970s it moved out of town. Today it’s run by his daughter Emiliana and his grandson Marco.
Cobra, Ruspa and Pipistrello are on show in museums: MoMA in New York and the Triennale in Milan.
Other designs for the factory
Gae Aulenti designed Pipistrello and Ruspa. For gardens and balconies there’s Cyborg by Karim Rashid and Kiki by Paola Navone. Calabrone comes in four versions: pendant, floor lamp, wall light and ceiling light.
Three catalogues
Home, architectural and outdoor lighting. The architectural range has spotlights, recessed, pendant and ceiling lights; Sistema U comes in three versions: pendant, ceiling and spot.
